FIVE ACTION STEPS
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN

These are five things you can do to help ensure that Wal-Mart is a good neighbor in St. Paul.

1. Endorse this campaign.
Ask your organization to endorse this campaign. (Or endorse the campaign yourself.) Gathering public endorsements will help demonstrate the depth and breadth of support for a more responsible Wal-Mart in St. Paul. Once you have the endorsement, fill out the back of the form to let us know how you.d like to be involved, and mail the letter to our campaign office in the enclosed envelope.

2. Schedule a Wal-Mart presentation.
We have developed a basic Introduction to Wal-Mart Presentation that we have begun sharing with local organizations. There are two versions: a ten-minute Q-&-A overview and a fifty-minute in-depth analysis. We will work with you to tailor the presentation to suit your organization and co-facilitate it with one of your members. These presentations are a great way to educate your constituents and board members about the impact of this transnational corporation on local businesses, workers, and communities.

3. Write a letter of support.
A great way to show support for the campaign is to draft an open letter to Wal-Mart describing your own concerns about its impact on St. Paul's Midway Neighborhood. There is a Sample Open Letter enclosed in this packet. On the back of the letter are the collected addresses of Wal-Mart.s area managers and St. Paul's local elected officials. When finished, please mail the letter to us using the enclosed self-addressed envelope. We intend to present the collected letters to Wal-Mart in order to make sure each one doesn.t get lost in the shuffle.

4. Sign the petition.
Nothing beats the classic petition drive. It.s simple. It.s to the point. You can help us do it. You can copy and use the enclosed petition to collect signatures. Then, please send the completed petition to us so that we can count the total number of signatures and send updates to those who want them.

5. Refer us to potential allies.
If you know others who are concerned about the impact of Wal-Mart or the future of economic development in St. Paul.s Midway neighborhood, please refer us to them (or them to us). Your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and colleagues are all welcome.
